For some people, this is easy to answer. For others, they can never give themselves permission to do so.
The type of investment we are talking about today is the investment in yourself. Why do this?
For many people, investing in themselves is the last item on a long list of budget items. And with it being the last, it is most often not accomplished.
We should put some things at the top of the list. For example, investing in your mental health might need to be a top action.
If your spouse or a child is struggling, you would find a resource and pay the money for someone to help them. You would see this as a justified expense.
So, why is it hard to prioritize yourself in the same way?
What would happen if you were in a healthier place mentally?
What it improves your life?
Would it improve your family's life?
Would it improve your work life?
If you answered yes to any of these, then it is time to invest. We put our own needs aside to focus on everyone else. And in return, this is something that can hurt you the most and potentially hurt your family, friend, and/or career.
I encourage you to invest in your mental health if this is something that is needed in your life. Whether it is finding a therapist or a coach, do this for you and your family.
Find what you need, show up for yourself, and do the work to heal. If one path is not working, find the right person to work with. Set the example for your family on how to take care of yourself.
As an act of kindness to yourself today, give yourself permission to take these steps. Reach out today!
